Where does permitting time actually go?
Every municipality below is drawn from the public permitting record: how long a permit takes from application to issue, and where residential building is heaviest. It is meant to support New Jersey’s own permitting work, not replace it. Nothing here is a score of a person or a prediction; every number traces back to real cases you can open.
The median number of days between when a permit is applied for and when it is issued, per municipality. We use the median (the middle case) and a “slower quarter” figure so a few outliers don’t distort the picture. Towns with fewer than ten completed cases are left blank rather than shown as zero.
How much residential permitting each municipality is processing. Bigger circles mean more residential permits on record. It is a read on where housing construction is concentrated, useful alongside the state’s housing and permitting-modernization goals.
Whether permitting activity is rising or falling: the change in permit volume over the last twelve months compared with the year before. Teal means rising, brown means falling. We only show a municipality where both years have enough activity to compare fairly.
